HI! I`m In a group and we did a project about an ecosystem. Our ecosystem was the *POND ECOSYSTEM* which is located in the Maynard Ecology Center!!!
ABIOTIC AND BIOTIC EXPLANATIONS:
I’m going to explain the a biotic animals. They are air, water, dirt, rocks, sand, and finally the sun. They were never alive. The biotic things are the ones who are alive the animals are…algae, duckweed, plant-like plankton, and finally elodea, those are from the producers side that means that they make food for other living things. Some other living things are phantom midge-larva, damselfly, nymph, threadworm, copepod, flatworm, and animal like-plankton, leech. they are all from the herbivore side. Other animals that are biotic are…the carnivores they are mosquito`s, leech, threadworms, turtles, frogs, fish, heron, and flatworms. Those that I just mentioned are all alive. (Biotic)
PRODUCER EXPLANATION:
The meaning of producer is some plant that produces food (life) for other living things. In this case the only producers are the ponds because that’s our ecosystem. Ad I mentioned in the last paragraph the producers are…algae, duckweed, plant-like plankton, elodea, and some bacteria. Those are the producers. Some producers are...
algae
duckweed
plant like-plankton
elodea
HERBIVORE EXPLANATION:
An herbivore is an animal that eats the producers. For example, a frog is an hervibore and when they are tadpoles(baby frogs)they eat some microscopic plant..and a plant is a producer.so that is what hervibores do!!!.Some herbivores were
phantom midge-larva
damselfly
numpth
threadworm
copepod
flatworm
animal like-plankton
leech
CARNIVORE EXPLANATION:
A carnivore is an animal that ONLY eats meat...in this case our carnivores in the pond ecosystem were...
mosquito`s
leech
threadworms
turtles
frogs
fish
herons
flatworm(which also belongs in the hervibore side)
those are the carnivores.
now..here are some pictures of a field trip we had...one of them is stuuf that we collected in our pond
